Pooja Mulgaonker, a Special Education teacher at Kiker Elementary School, was named the 2026 Region 13 Elementary Teacher of the Year. She’ll now represent the region at the Texas State Teacher of the Year competition.
Why it matters: Pooja has 20 years of experience transforming early childhood special education with inclusive, innovative teaching.
And that's not all...David Bellesen, ¹û¶³´«Ã½app ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year from Travis Early College High School, was also honored at the Region 13 Luncheon. We are so AISD proud of David and Pooja!
By the numbers:
- 40 Regional Teachers of the Year are chosen statewide each year
- Two State Teachers of the Year (elementary and secondary) are chosen each year
What’s next: Pooja will compete for the statewide title, representing ESC Region 13 and ¹û¶³´«Ã½app ISD’s commitment to educational excellence.
Pooja Mulgaonker, una maestra de Educación Especial de la Escuela Primaria Kiker, fue nombrada Maestra de Educación Primaria del Año de la Región 13 de 2026. Ahora representará a la región en la competencia para el Maestro del Año del Estado de Texas.
Por qué es importante: Pooja tiene 20 años de experiencia transformando la educación especial de la primera infancia con una docencia inclusiva e innovadora.
Y eso no es todo… a David Bellesen, Maestro de Educación Secundaria del Año del ¹û¶³´«Ã½app ISD de la Escuela Preparatoria de Universidad Temprana Travis, también le rindieron honores en el Almuerzo de la Región 13. ¡Estamos muy orgullosos en el AISD de David y Pooja!
Según las cifras:
- Cada año se elige a 40 Maestros del Año de todas las regiones del estado.
- Se elige a dos Maestros del Año del Estado (de educación primaria y secundaria) cada año.
¿Cuál es el siguiente paso? Pooja competirá por el tÃtulo estatal, en representación de la Región 13 de los ESC y del compromiso del ¹û¶³´«Ã½app ISD con la excelencia en la educación.
